The purpose of the BRRC is to supplement, expand, and create efforts on campus and within the community toward the recruitment and retention of Black students. Throughout the school year, BRRC hosts holistic and multidimensional small and large scale recruitment and retention focused events. We also engage in other efforts that work to serve the Black campus community, positively shift the campus climate, and uplift Black students.
RecruitmentOur recruitment efforts include:
4-day College Tour for 100 Students, 4-day overnight stay for admitted HS seniors, 3-day overnight stay for admitted transfer students, Bay Area high schools, and community colleges visits, 5-day Southern California Outreach Trip, College Application workshop and much more |
RetentionOur retention programs include: community BBQs, Ebony Ball, Paint n Sip (with mocktails, community night outs, community dinners, BRRC Family Day, financial literacy workshops, professional development workshops, performance nights, night out with performing groups, and much more.

Initiatives & other effortsSome of our other efforts include the #BlackatCal 1k Scholarship, collaboration with various campus partners, meetings with campus administrators representing the Black community, internship program, our monthly community-wide general meetings, and much more.
